Panama Canal Here We Come

Traveling through the Panama Canal is an all day (Tuesday, 11/12/15) process starting at 6:30am in the bay and expecting to finish at 4:05pm when we reach the Pacific Ocean. We go through 3 sets of Locks. I have a map picture showing the entire canal area. We reached the Gatun Locks around 7 am and made it through around 8:45 am. We traveled through Gatun Lake and into the Rio Chagres River leading to the Culebra Cut which seems more like a canal to us. From there we started through the Pedro Miguel Locks at 1:48pm. And finally we started through the Miraflores Locks at 2:55 pm and into Pacific Ocean salt water at 3:57pm. We crossed the Bridge of the Americas just after 4:30pm. We were told it costs over $487,000 for our ship to go through the Panama Canal today. For 2,500 passengers, that averages just under a $200 cost for each passenger. We were live on pancanal.com. We found out too late to have you watch.

There is a picture of the tug that kept us straight. Some Panama staff enters the ship to help guide it.
